The Dance Floor of Life: When Fear of Judgment Keeps Us From Dancing

La Pista da Ballo della Vita: Quando la Paura del Giudizio ci Impedisce di Danzare

Why am I talking to you about dance? Because, ultimately, everything is connected.

I don't know how to dance. I'm a pole, I don't feel time. I see all those ordinary people on the dance floor moving beautifully to the music, I admire them while I move my little legs a few millimeters, desperately trying to make sense of the fact that I'm there too, among them.

And I'm sure it's all tied to the fear of judgment I've always had, that fear that prevents me from moving freely in space—and not just on the dance floor. That same fear also limits me in my everyday life.

Because, after all, everyday life is a dance floor. You're there among everyone and you have to try to move your legs. Some people do it exemplarily, some are funnier but don't care and have fun anyway, some stay on the sidelines and watch, and some, like me, want to be there but aren't sure how.

I want to move to the beat of the music, or even just move. I know I should close my eyes and let go, pretend I'm at home, in my safe place, where no one sees me and I move to the music—not necessarily to the beat, but just because I'm listening to something beautiful and no one's watching and I'm having fun.

It's a shame that my mind is so strong, so present, that it prevents me from doing so.

The mind has such enormous power that it limits us in incredible ways. If only we chose not to believe it , we would be able to do truly wonderful things.

And the same is true in the world of creativity.

If only I decided not to believe the mind that whispers to me that I'm not creative enough, that I'm not enough of everything, I could bring with the punch needle that beauty into the world which, after all, has always been my goal.

A New Beginning for This Space

I've decided to give this blog a different spin. I no longer want to just talk about punch needle technique, tutorials, and materials—you can find those in my YouTube videos. I want to transform this space into a place for reflection, breaking away from the norm and exposing my own weaknesses, which I believe are those of many of us.

I like to write down my thoughts. I usually do it in my notebook, since no one sees it anyway. And since my mind prevents me from getting noticed online, not just in real life, this blog will probably reach only two people. But ultimately, that's fine with me, because I don't want to reach many—I want to reach a few, those people who recognize themselves in these words and who need support.

I'm trying not to trust my mind, and I'm committed to it, because I want to bring beauty into the world. I want to bring kindness and gentleness, and my way of doing that is through the punch needle and through these words.

I want to reach out to you, the reader, to inspire you and tell you that you too can do it. Even if we're just drops in the ocean, our contribution is essential...

A kiss ❤️
